What the Plant Produces

Production is organised by product family, each with its own tooling, process route and inspection point. That is why the same plant can run standard hex bolts and custom bent foundation bolts without mixing process controls.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

From Raw Material to Packed Carton

The process route is fixed per product family, so each stage has its own inspection point rather than a single final check. The summary below follows a typical structural bolt order through the plant.

01 · Raw Material

Steel wire and bar are checked for grade, diameter and heat number before release to production. Material certificates are filed against the order.

02 · Forging & Heading

Cold heading for standard bolts and studs; hot forging for larger diameters and custom shapes. Head dimensions are checked against the standard.

03 · Thread Rolling

Threads are rolled rather than cut for most products, giving continuous grain flow and better fatigue performance. Thread gauge is checked at start and end of each batch.

04 · Heat Treatment

Quenching and tempering for property classes 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9. Hardness and tensile tests are carried out after treatment, not before.

05 · Surface Coating

Zinc plating, hot dip galvanizing or Dacromet according to the corrosion class specified. Coating thickness is measured after the process, not assumed from the bath parameter.

06 · Final Inspection

Dimensional check, thread gauge, hardness, coating thickness and visual inspection. Third-party inspection can be arranged at this stage if required.

07 · Packing

Cartons, pallets or wooden cases depending on destination and handling. Labels carry product, standard, size, grade, heat number and quantity.

08 · Documentation

Material certificate, inspection report and packing list are issued with the shipment. Additional documents can be added if the project specification requires them.

EQUIPMENT

Main Production Equipment

The list covers the equipment that determines size range, lead time and process capability. Equipment is listed by function, because buyers care about what the machine can do, not who built it.

Cold Heading Machines

Multi-station heading for hex bolts, flange bolts and stud blanks up to M64, depending on material and head shape.

Hot Forging Lines

Used for larger diameters and custom head shapes where cold heading would exceed the material’s forming limit.

Thread Rolling Machines

Dedicated lines for bolts, studs and threaded rods. Thread length and pitch are set per standard and checked by gauge.

Heat Treatment Furnace

Quenching and tempering lines for 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9. Temperature and time are recorded per batch for traceability.

Bending Equipment

Used for L, J and U foundation bolts and custom anchor rods, with projection and bend radius checked against drawing.

Coating Lines

Zinc plating, hot dip galvanizing and Dacromet, with coating thickness measured after processing rather than assumed.

Inspection Equipment

Thread gauges, micrometers, hardness testers and tensile testing. Coating thickness gauge and salt spray data available on request.

Packing Line

Carton, pallet and wooden case packing. Labels carry product, standard, size, grade, heat number and quantity.

QUALITY CONTROL

Where the Checks Happen

Quality control is not a final inspection room at the end of the line. Each process stage has its own check, because a dimension that is wrong after heading cannot be corrected by a better final inspection.

If the project requires third-party inspection, the timing should be agreed before production starts so it can be scheduled at the correct stage rather than after packing.

WHAT BUYERS CHECK

Points Usually Confirmed Before an Order

Buyers evaluating a fastener plant usually want to confirm four things: that the process is actually in-house, that heat treatment is controlled, that coating is measured, and that inspection records exist before shipment.

01

In-House Process

Heading, thread rolling, heat treatment and inspection carried out on site, not outsourced.

02

Heat Treatment Control

Furnace temperature and time recorded per batch; hardness tested after treatment, not before.

03

Coating Measurement

Coating thickness measured after processing, not inferred from bath parameters.

04

Inspection Records

Dimensional, mechanical and coating records filed against the order and issued with shipment.

05

Material Traceability

Heat number and steel grade recorded from incoming material through to packed carton.

06

Custom Capability

Bending, special thread lengths and non-standard head shapes produced against a drawing.

07

Export Packing

Carton, pallet and wooden case packing suited to sea freight and local handling.

08

Third-Party Inspection

SGS, BV or customer-nominated inspection scheduled at the correct production stage.

ORDER FLOW

From Inquiry to Shipment

Factory orders follow the same four steps as product quotations, with production scheduling added between confirmation and shipment.

01

Inquiry

Product type, standard, size, grade, quantity and destination port.

02

Specification Review

Drawings, standards and inspection requirements reviewed before quotation.

03

Production

Material release, heading, threading, heat treatment and coating scheduled per order.

04

Inspection & Shipment

Final inspection, documentation and export packing before dispatch.

FACTORY FAQ

Questions Export Buyers Ask

Common questions from procurement teams evaluating a fastener factory for GCC and African projects.

Do you export fasteners to Middle East and African ports?

Yes. Regular destinations include Jebel Ali, Dammam, Doha, Muscat, Kuwait, Djibouti, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Lagos, Tema and Durban. FOB, CIF and CFR terms are quoted against the destination port, and packing is adjusted for sea freight and local handling conditions. For project cargo, confirm whether the buyer or the contractor handles customs clearance so the trade term and documents match the delivery route.

Which standards are most often requested for GCC and African projects?

ASTM A325 and A490 structural bolts and ASTM A193 B7 stud bolts are common on oil, gas and petrochemical work in the GCC. DIN 931 and 933 hex bolts and DIN 975 threaded rods appear frequently on European-specified industrial plants in North and West Africa. GB/T 1228 structural bolts are sometimes requested on Chinese-contracted infrastructure projects. The standard should be confirmed from the project specification rather than assumed from the region.

What surface finish is suitable for hot and coastal climates?

For coastal and high-humidity sites, hot dip galvanizing is usually specified for structural and foundation bolts because the zinc layer is thicker and more durable than zinc plating. Dacromet is used where zinc plating is insufficient but hot dip galvanizing would affect thread fit. For indoor or sheltered steelwork, zinc plating is often adequate. The corrosion class and expected service life should come from the project specification, not from a general regional rule.

What is the typical production lead time for export orders?

Standard items are usually produced 15 to 30 days after order confirmation, depending on size, quantity and coating. Hot dip galvanized and custom bent items need additional time for coating and forming. Third-party inspection adds time before shipment. For project schedules, send the required on-site date and destination port so production, inspection and booking can be planned backwards from the vessel cut-off.

Can the factory produce custom anchor bolts from drawings?

Yes. L, J and U foundation bolts, chemical anchor rods and special studs can be produced against a drawing. The drawing should show diameter, total length, thread length, bend radius, projection, material grade, surface treatment and quantity. For foundation bolts, the embedment depth and template hole spacing should be confirmed, because these affect the bend position and cannot be corrected after galvanizing.

What documentation is normally issued for export orders?

Documentation usually includes the commercial invoice, packing list, material certificate with heat number and steel grade, and inspection report. Coating thickness or salt spray data can be added when the specification requires it. If the destination customs authority or the project consultant requires third-party inspection, this should be stated in the inquiry so it can be scheduled at the correct production stage rather than after packing.

Need a Factory Quote?

Send the product specification, standard, size, grade, quantity and destination port. For custom items, attach the drawing so the process route and lead time can be confirmed before pricing.

Production capability and documentation should be confirmed against the applicable project standard and order specification.
